How do I get started?

The first step is to contact me, through my website Contact Form. From there, I will set up a time to connect with you by phone to share some information about my practice, answer any initial questions you have, and to learn a bit more about what type of help you are looking for. If we agree that I may be a good fit to your needs at this time, we can schedule an initial appointment. In that appointment we will comprehensively discuss your current needs and an initial treatment plan of how we could work together to meet your goals.

How is COVID-19 affecting your practice?

At this time, I am only offering virtual, video sessions (through a secure web platform). Telepsychology services have been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy, along with other benefits like its convenience. If you are unsure if virtual therapy is the right option for you, we can discuss this together to ensure it is a good fit to your current needs.

What if I am in crisis and need support right away?

If you are in crisis and need immediate support, please phone your local crisis line (in Kingston, 613-544-4229, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week), call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Do you provide services to people outside of Kingston?

I am licensed  to provide psychology services to clients located across Ontario. For clients who are travelling or located outside Ontario, whether I am able to provide care depends on the province and their laws.

What is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)?

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, or CBT, is a structured and time-limited type of talk therapy, which focuses on the development of skills to meet your specific goals. CBT focuses on learning strategies to work on our thoughts and behaviours - how we think and how we act - to address the problems and difficult feelings we are experiencing. CBT has been shown to be effective to treat people experiencing a wide range of problems impacting emotional and physical health. You can learn more about CBT and the evidence that it works here: https://www.abct.org/get-help/symptoms-and-treatments/

Where can I learn more about your research?

You can find information about peer-reviewed articles and book chapters I have published through my profiles on Research Gate and Google Scholar.
