Stéphanie C. Boyer, Ph.D., C.Psych.

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years’ experience providing services to adolescents and adults. I have worked in residential, partial hospital, and outpatient healthcare settings. I also have experience within university, community, and private practice settings.

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in 2014. I next completed a one-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship at McLean Hospital’s Klarman Eating Disorders Center in Belmont, Massachusetts. After my fellowship, I was promoted to Staff Psychologist and concurrently held a faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School. I practiced in these capacities and also maintained a small private practice until I moved back to Canada in 2018.

Since returning to Kingston, I have been on staff at the Psychology Clinic at Queen’s University, the Department of Psychology’s graduate training clinic, in leadership, teaching, and clinical roles. I supervise graduate students in Clinical Psychology providing assessment and therapy through services offered at the Clinic. I founded the Clinic’s Perinatal Mental Health Service in 2020, and under my direction, the service provides assessment and group treatment services to new and expecting parents experiencing mental health and adjustment difficulties. I also have an integral role in the Clinic’s Sex and Relationship Therapy Service, heading up the development and implementation of all group-based programs.

Improving mental health and well-being for all requires action and advocacy within our healthcare system, as well as at the community level. I remain actively involved in clinical research at Queen’s to support advancements in care. I also oversee and participate in outreach activities to raise awareness and support individuals and families in our community. I use my expertise in maternal mental health to raise awareness about difficulties to well-being that can arise during the transition to parenthood. For example, I am the co-chair of the Champlain Maternal Newborn Regional Program (CMNRP) Perinatal Mental Health Community of Practice, which strives to connect providers in our region.
